Jane Marie Monken Daugherty, 76, was joyfully called home on December 27, 2025, passing peacefully at her home, exactly as she lived-on her terms.
Jane lived life by Jane's rules, and she made no apologies for it. Jane lived life fully, fiercely, and with love. In her younger years, she could often be found on the softball field with friends, embracing competition and camaraderie with equal enthusiasm. Alongside her husband, she proudly ran Centralia Bumpers for many years. Above all else, Jane was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister. Her love for her family was endless, her opinions were honest, and her door-and heart-were always open.
Jane has now been reunited in Heaven with her sons Steven Hails and Joey Daugherty, and her husband of 42 years, Clint "Don" Daugherty. We can only imagine the reunion these four will have. She was also greeted by her parents, Louis and Leona (Kroeger) Monken, her grandparents, a sister-in-law Jeanette Flatt, father-in-law & mother-in-law, three brothers: Raymond Monken, Don Monken, Fred Monken, a sister Dolores Sanders of
Centralia, IL and two brother-in-laws Farrell Flatt and Spencer Crane. With a long list of other family members who surely knew she'd arrive on her terms. Left behind to miss her humor, honesty, orneriness and unforgettable presence are her son and daughter-in-law, Troy and Tina Daugherty of
Iuka, IL; her grandchildren Keeley & Robert McKay, of Owensboro, KY; Kacie Daugherty of
Centralia, IL; Caitlin Ellis & Blake Budds of Central City, IL; Austin Daugherty of
Centralia, IL; Riley Daugherty of
Centralia, IL & late son's wife Tischa Daugherty of
Centralia, IL. Jane was especially proud of her five great-grandchildren- their Gigi as she referred to herself -Raelynn, Gavin, Amelia, Jaxson, and Jettlynn, all of whom brought her endless joy, smiles, and stories. She leaves behind a sister Mary Long and husband Jerry of Centralia. Three Sister-in-laws Judy McMeen and husband Bob of
Centralia, IL; Sandy Monken of
Centralia, IL, Nancy Monken of California, and & several nieces, nephews and cousins. With many relatives and friends who were lucky enough to be loved by Jane. Jane will be remembered for her strong will, sharp wit, loyal heart, and her ability to say exactly what she thought-whether you were ready for it or not. She loved hard, laughed loud, and left memories that will be shared for generations.
A Visitation for Jane Daugherty will be held on Tuesday, January 6th, 2026 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at Sutherland-Garnier Funeral Home in Centralia. A Graveside Service will be held at 1:15 pm on Tuesday, January 6, 2025 at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Centralia with Pastor Steve Upchurch officiating. In true Jane fashion, it will be laughter, love and remembering a woman who did things her way until the very end. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests sharing a good story or enjoying life a little louder-because that's exactly how Jane would want it. Memorial donations may be made to
St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and will be accepted at the Sutherland-Garnier Funeral Home in Centralia which is assisting the family with arrangements. Online condolences may be made to the family by visiting www.sutherlandfuneralhome.com or the Funeral Home's Facebook page.
