Jane Dempsey of Kingston passed away Sunday, June 1, 2025. Born in Saugerties she was the daughter of John W. & Florence (Burns) Granwehr. She graduated from Saugerties High School in 1959 and The Benedictine School of Nursing in 1961 where she then worked as a registered nurse for 40 years. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Richard J. Dempsey.
Jane is survived by her 3 daughters, Jacqueline Maroney and her husband Michael of Port Ewen, Ann Dempsey and her partner Shawn Fitzgibbon of Boston, MA and Patricia Dempsey and her husband Thomas Poznanski of Schenectady, NY; as well as 2 grandsons, Cliff Maroney of Stone Ridge, NY and Ian-Michael Maroney of San Francisco, CA. In addition, she is survived by her 2 sisters, Barbara Cordes of Westwood, NJ and Bethany Greene of San Diego, CA, as well as her brother John C. Granwehr and his wife Joni of Saugerties, along with many nieces, nephews and dear friends.
Arrangements entrusted to Keyser Funeral & Cremation Service, Kingston, NY. A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, June 6 at 9am at Immaculate Conception RC Church, Delaware Avenue in Kingston. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s of the Snow Cemetery in Saugerties. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Jude’s’s Children’s Research Hospital or a charity of your choice.
