Jane Jones

Jane Scott Jones, age 76, of Cottondale, Al, passed away on Sunday, January 25, 2025, at Hospice of West Alabama. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 29, 2025, at Tuscaloosa Memorial Chapel with Kimbi Bartik officiating. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 28, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at Tuscaloosa Memorial Chapel Funeral Home.

She is preceded in death by her husband Paul W. Jones, father William B. Scott and mother, Carolyn S. Scott.

She is survived by her daughter, Kelly Jones Key (Aaron), son Corey E. Jones (Misty); sisters, Ruby Hobson and Mary Scott (Stephen Cory); grandchildren Caroline Hamner (West), Brighton Seaman, Lorelai Jones and Chloe Jones.

Jane Elizabeth Scott Jones was born in Northport, Al, on October 19, 1949. The first of three daughters, her father was an entrepreneur, and her mother was heavily invested in philanthropic activities. She was a curious and empathetic child, who grew up roaming the Tuscaloosa Airport where her family lived in FAA housing.

Jane met her husband, Paul Jones, on a blind date when she was still in high school at Tuscaloosa County High. After graduating, she briefly attended the University of Alabama before she and Paul married in the summer of 69. She settled into married life and began working at the US Department of Veterans Affairs in 1970. She worked as an administrative assistant until 1981, when she left to work for the Social Security Administration. During her time at Social Security Jane discovered Mary Kay Cosmetics and began a successful career as a consultant in May 1990. She would go on to retire from Social Security in 1993 to pursue her dream of becoming a Mary Kay director.

In addition to Mary Kay, Jane had a passion for Dutch oven cooking, camping, furniture and home restoration, and building genuine human connections. She was an exceptional mother and grandmother, and a friend to all.

Honorary pallbearers are Aaron Key, West Hamner, Brighton Seaman, Scott Hobson, Steve Cory, Chuck Jones, Mike Jones, Mary Kay Cosmetics Consultants and Directors, Alabama Dutch Oven Society and Lake Wildwood Club members.
