Jane (Reed) Knapp, 91, of Frankfort, passed away peacefully on August 13, 2025, at Mulberry Health.
She was born in Kokomo, Indiana, on November 15, 1933, to Austin and Clara (Duncan) Reed. Jane was a 1951 graduate of Michigantown High School. On August 13, 1955, she married Horace Knapp, the love of her life, and together they built thirty-five years of memories before his passing in 1991.
Jane devoted over three decades to Federal Mogul and spent twelve years as a beautician. She was a proud member of Jefferson United Methodist Church, the Moose Lodge, and the Eagles. Jane enjoyed the simple pleasures—being outdoors, volunteering and adopting animals, baking treats to share, volunteering at nursing homes, and making time for the people she cared about most. She also had a lifelong love of music, collecting CDs and often seeking out live performances in the area. Her laughter and good company will be remembered fondly by all who knew her.
She is survived by her son, Jim (Kim) Knapp; grandchildren, Kyle, Eric, and Alexia; great-grandchild, Erika Knapp; and nephews, Ed Reed, Dale Lorenz, and David Lorenz.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Horace Knapp; sister, Edna Mae Lorenz; and brother, Lewis Reed.
Visitation will be held on Monday, August 18, 2025, from 1 p.m. until the time of the service at 3 p.m. at Day & Genda Funeral Home in Frankfort. Pastor Craig Overman will officiate. Burial will follow at Bunnell Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Jane’s honor to Clinton County Humane Society.
