A funeral for Jane Matthews, age 71, of Terril, Iowa, will be held at 11 AM on Monday, April 22, 2024, at the United Methodist Church in Terril. A visitation will be Sunday, April 21, 2024, beginning at 3 pm, with the family present from 3-5 pm at Turner Jenness Funeral Home in Milford, Iowa.

On May 26th, 1952, a little girl was born in Sioux City, Iowa. Three months later she was chosen by the most loving parents a daughter could ask for. Don and Glee Hansen named her Jane Louise.

Jane grew up in Milford, Iowa. She was a candy striper while in high school at DCMH. While in high school she met Tim Mark, as she would call him. She graduated from Milford high school in 1970.

On August 28th, 1970, she married the love of her life. She would say they were two young kids trying to make it. Shortly after their first-born Melissa Jane came into the world. To follow was her baby boy Scot Timothy. They lost a baby a few years later. She then gave birth to her last girl Lisa Louise. She always called her special angel because God gave her a baby when she needed it.

Jane stayed at home and even babysat for a while. While babysitting, she met her life-long friend and sister Julie alongside her "daughter" Amy Jo. She did Sunday school for years and was a girl scout leader while her first daughter was young. She was on the first ambulance crew for Terril. In the middle 80's she started working part-time at the hospital as an EMT-I in the ambulance and ER. Her kids would joke they knew when mom had a bad call because she would come and rub their head when she got off duty. She went full-time as a ward secretary to follow.

Jane would retire to help babysit her great grandchildren. Her family was her life from her children to grandchildren to great grandchildren. She tried her hardest to make it to every event and was very proud of her family. She prayed for a big family when she was younger and that is just what she got. Jane was proud of her upbringing, and it made her who she was. She would say biological doesn't make you family; love does. She was a mom and grandma to everyone from home to work to at life in general. Her smile was contagious.

Jane passed away Sunday, April 14, 2024 at her home in Terril.

Left to cherish her memories is her husband of 53 years, Timothy of Terril. Her children: Melissa (special friend) of Terril, Scot of Terril, Lisa (Nathan) of Terril, and Amy (Russ) of Terril. Also to hold her memories are her 11 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Alongside her nieces and nephews with her siblings: Tom (Lourie), Marsha (Winton), Bill (Sharon), and Melanie (Dean). Finally, her chosen children, grandchildren, friends, and family who lives she has touched.

Preceded in death by her parents: Don and Glee Hansen, Leo and Alma Matthews; her brother, Monte Matthews and son-in-law Tom Hart.

As she would say, "Love you more and have a fabulous day!"
