Jane Louise Mellinger

Jane Louise Mellinger, age 89, of Saline, Michigan passed away peacefully on Monday, January 6, 2025 with her family nearby. Jane was born April 19, 1935 in Livingston, Kentucky, to the late Boston Shelton and Martha (Phillips) Shelton. On September 23, 1950 she married Robert L. (Bob) Mellinger, and he survives. Jane is survived by her 3 children, Mike (Liz) Mellinger of Northville, Michigan, Mark (Shari) Mellinger of Willis, Michigan and Robert Scott Mellinger of Milan, Michigan. She was predeceased by 3 children: Joyce (Ray) Keeth, Bryan Mellinger and Bruce Mellinger; and 6 siblings. Jane had 13 grandchildren; 25 great-children; 11 great-great grandchildren. Wow! 5 Generations!
She also survives by 2 siblings, Harold Shelton of Richmond, Indiana and Stella (Shelton) Davis of Richmond, Indiana, and many nieces and nephews.
Jane was a stay-at-home mom who enjoyed cooking and entertaining, Easter egg hunts and playing Euchre, of which her and Bob hosted many Euchre club events over the last 50 years. She had no hesitation in going alone, and she enjoyed every opportunity to Euchre Bob! Jane worked at Lincoln Consolidated Schools in the cafeteria until she retired. She served as President of the Augusta Township Fire Dept. Women's Auxiliary. Jane and Bob were members of the Hastings Church of the Nazarene. She was a member of Red Hatters Club and also Hasting Women's Club during their years living in Hastings, Michigan.
Jane loved spending time with family and friends over the years and will be dearly missed.
Friends may join the family for a time of visitation on Friday, January 10, 2025 from 3:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at the Robison-Bahnmiller Funeral Home in Saline. Visitation will continue on Saturday, January 11, 2025 from 10:00 A.M. to 2:00 P.M. at the Funeral Home. A short service will be held at 2:00 P.M. with David Keeth as speaker. Following the service, entombment will take place at the Washtenong Memorial Park in Ann Arbor. A Committal Service will be held in the chapel at the cemetery at 3:00 P.M. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in her name may be made to Arbor Hospice, and envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
