Jane Christina Twomey

Jane Twomey, a loving mother, grandmother, nurse, and friend, passed away peacefully on March 8, 2026, in West Bloomfield, Michigan. She was 94 years old.

Jane was born on December 23, 1931, in Kells, Ireland. Raised in a large and loving family, she carried with her throughout her life the warmth, humor, and strong sense of family that defined her Irish roots.

Jane devoted her life to caring for others. She began her career in nursing as a midwife in London before moving to New York, where she continued her work in healthcare. Eventually settling in Michigan, she spent many years as a labor and delivery nurse, helping bring countless new lives into the world. Her compassion, dedication, and calm presence made her a trusted and beloved caregiver to many families.

Beyond her professional accomplishments, Jane's greatest pride and joy were her family and her marriage to her beloved husband, John Twomey. Together they built a life centered on love, laughter, and unwavering support for their children and grandchildren.

Jane will be remembered for her loving heart, family-oriented spirit, quick wit, and wonderful sense of humor. She especially enjoyed dancing and spending time surrounded by the people she loved most.

She was immensely proud of all her children and grandchildren, who were the light of her life.

Jane is survived and lovingly remembered by her daughter Tara Twomey; her son John Twomey and his wife Sara; her daughter Maureen and her wife Ginny; and her cherished grandchildren Dylan Trapp, Caira Trapp, Jack Twomey, Erin Twomey, and Ryan Twomey.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, John Twomey, and her siblings Marion, Sheila, Bridie, Eleanor, Peggy, Nancy, Larry, Patsy, and Tommy.

Visitation will be held at the O'Brien/Sullivan Funeral Home on Sunday, March 15, 2026 from 2:00 pm until 8:00 pm, with a rosary beginning at 7:00 pm. A memorial service will be held at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in Farmington, Michigan, on Monday, March 16, 2026 with visitation from 9:30 until the Funeral Mass begins at 10:00 am.

Jane's legacy lives on in the many lives she touched-through her care as a nurse, her kindness as a friend, and most of all, her boundless love as a mother and grandmother. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
