Jane E. (Charleston) Weir, 87, of Blandon, passed away on Saturday, May 31, 2025 at WellSpan York Hospital, York, PA.
Born March 2, 1938 in York, Jane was the daughter of the late Edgar L. and Emma E. (Crone) Charleston. Her husband of 53 years, William L. Weir, passed away on March 20, 2011.
Jane was a 1956 graduate of York Central High School. She went on to work as the Union Adminstrator responsbile for new member initiation, dues collection, communication and administrative support for Teamsters Local Union #429, Wyomissing for over 30 years. She was passionate about her responsiblities supporting the union membership.
Jane enjoyed life. She was the 'traditional' working mom responsible for all child care, household management duties in addition to her career at the Teamster Union. Some of her favorite moments were playing music and hymns on her organ, Saturday night dancing with husband Bill and beach vacations with the kids at the Jersey shore. She was proud of her grandkids and actively supported their academic and enrichment activities.
After retirement Jane took up golf, played tennis and enjoyed excercising with her new friends at the Silver Sneakers. She also enjoyed traveling to Florida and Arizona in the winters to visit family and friends. In her twilight years, she lovingly cared for her cat 'Jake' and looked forward to weekly lunch and dinner outings with her network of friends both old and new.
Jane is survived by her two children, Teri L. (Weir) Bruns, wife of David W. Bruns, Madison, WI, and Thomas L. Weir, husband of Ellen E. (Fink) Weir, Midlothian, VA. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Tyler Weir and his wife, Susan and Allison Weir, Jonathan Bruns and his wife, Mackenzie, Christopher Bruns and his wife, Heidi, and Ryan Bruns. She also was fortunate to have great-grandchildren, Lucia, Bennett, Tyler, Walter, Will and Stanley.
Along with her parents and her husband, William, Jane was preceded in death by her brothers, Donald Charleston, John Charleston, Eugene Charleston, and Edgar Charleston, Jr., and by her sisters, Doris Brosey and Joann King.
