Jane E. West, a cherished matriarch, passed away peacefully on January 10, 2026, in
Cleveland, Texas, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on October 1, 1945, in
Huntington, West Virginia, Jane's vibrant spirit and zest for life left an indelible mark on all who knew her.
Jane's early years in Huntington were filled with the love and support of her parents, Ann and George West, both of whom predeceased her, as did her husband, Dennis Ingram. Jane's legacy lives on through her daughter, Candi Johnson, and her son, Blake Ingram, as well as her adoring grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who brought immense joy to her life.
A woman of great strength and resilience, Jane's work history is a testament to her tireless work ethic and versatility. From driving a school bus to managing a local bakery and gas station, Jane's commitment to providing for her family never wavered. Notably, she played an integral role in her husband's heavy equipment company, where she expertly handled the responsibilities of driving a dump truck. Her later years saw her embrace the life of a farmer, a role she undertook with characteristic dedication and pride.
Jane's educational journey, though not traditional, included taking classes at North Harris County College, demonstrating her belief in lifelong learning and personal growth. Her Christian faith was a cornerstone of her life, guiding her actions and providing comfort and strength throughout her years.
An adventurous soul, Jane's youth was marked by her love for surfing, a passion that reflected her love for life and the great outdoors. After the loss of her husband, she found solace in travel, visiting family across the country with her parents. In her final years, Jane found pleasure in simpler joys, such as watching the Hallmark Channel and engaging in spirited card games on her iPad, a gift from her daughter Candi.
Described by those who knew her best as adventurous, interesting, and friendly, Jane's personality was a beacon of light. Her ability to forge lasting friendships and her willingness to lend a helping hand when possible were hallmarks of her character.
Jane is survived by her loving family, including her daughter Candi and son-in-law Jimmy; grandchildren Amanda LaBorde, her husband Joshua, and their sons Elijah and Emery; Lorianne Cottrell, her husband Davey, and their daughters Zoey and Micah; and Dennis Johnson. She also leaves behind her son Blake, his wife Veronica, and their son Mason, as well as her brothers Greg, Steve, and Mike and their respective spouses Lyn and Jan, and her sister Kathi Smith and her husband Rick. Her extended family of cousins, nieces, and nephews, though too numerous to list, each held a special place in her heart and miss her dearly.
Jane's remarkable journey through life will be remembered with love and admiration. Her spirit, encapsulated her love for adventure, family, and community, will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to have known her. As we bid farewell to this extraordinary woman, we celebrate the enduring impact she has made on our lives.
