Jane Wilson Obituary
PEABODY - Jane S. Wilson, 86, of Brooksby Village, Peabody, formerly of Acton, passed away peacefully on the morning of December 28th, 2024, surrounded by her family.
She was a loving mother, nana, and friend to many. She is survived by her two children, Mark Floyd Wilson (Tammy) and Susan Wilson Berube (Chris). She is also survived by her four grandchildren, Jordan Wilson (Charles), Peter Berube (Sara), Emma Berube, and Matthew Wilson. She was preceded in death by her brother, Kenneth Binney Jr. and her former husband, Roger S. Wilson.
Born in New York, NY on December 17th, 1938, she was the beloved daughter of the late Annetta Scott Binney and Kenneth Binney Sr. Jane was raised in Ridgefield Park, NJ. She graduated from Fairleigh Dickinson University with an associate's degree in nursing and worked at Hackensack Hospital. Jane later moved to Acton, MA where she lived in her home for 46 years, surrounded by loving neighbors and friends. The majority of her career was spent as the executive assistant to the President and CEO of Acton Corporation, and she retired from Concord Orthopedics. She was an active member of both Acton Congregational Church and the chapel at Brooksby Village in Peabody, MA. She enjoyed singing in the choir, and her voice will be dearly missed. Jane was a lover of all animals including birds, dogs, and cats, especially her beloved cat, Tom. She was also an avid reader. She will be remembered for her fondness of miniature collectibles and her love of Christmas. Her elaborate Department 56 Christmas village brought joy to many.
Jane was a loving mother. She always put her children's needs before her own and worked extremely hard to make sure they were well-provided for. Although not the most confident driver, she braved many dark, rainy, snow-packed roads, and unfamiliar cities to get her children to activities and events. Holidays and birthdays were always special. Christmas was not Christmas without her sour cream coffee cake. On weekends, you could often find her and her children in the yard tending to the landscaping, picking up sticks, or raking leaves, always accompanied by their family collie, Sam, and followed by a "formal" BBQ on the porch.
Jane was a loving nana to her grandchildren, fondly known as lambies. They will cherish and remember the many trips to the neighborhood pool, the treats from Dunkin, the black raspberry sundaes, and her famous pumpkin pie and lemon cupcakes. But most of all, her grandchildren will remember her abundant kindness and generosity. Her presence in their lives will remain with them forever.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the care staff at Brooksby Village and Care Dimensions.
