Jane A. Yoffe

Yoffe, Jane Anne (Deleone)- 86, of Newton, Mass. passed away peacefully on Mother's Day, May 12th, 2024 from natural causes stemming from Alzheimer's disease.
Jane was born on October 17th, 1937 to Joseph and Deane Deleone in Kent, Ohio. After graduating from Roosevelt High School in 1955 she attended Kent State University before joining the United States Air Force in 1958.
In 1962 Jane met Stuart Alan Yoffe while stationed in San Francisco and they were married in 1963. Jane and Stuart went on to have two children Jonathan Yoffe and Justin Yoffe, and after a few years in Jamaica Plain, MA, settled down in Newton Centre, MA in 1970.
Jane spent many years active in the community, performing with the Newton Country Players and later with the Footlight Club in Jamaica Plain. She went on to serve as the Chair of the Board of Trustees for the Footlight Club, and also served as the first female President of the West Newton Unitarian Church and was key in championing and fundraising for both institutions.
Jane was a fun loving, elegant woman, devoted wife and mother and dear friend to many. She was also an avid collector of cookie jars, Beanie Babies, hippo statues, and unique jewelry.
Jane was predeceased by her older brother James DeLeone, her younger brother Thomas DeLeone and her husband Stuart Yoffe. She is survived by her oldest son Jonathan Yoffe, his wife Tracy Yoffe and two children Denning and Benjamin Yoffe of Uxbridge, Mass and her younger son Justin Yoffe, his wife Jeanette Yoffe and their son Nathan Yoffe of Los Angeles, CA.
Services will be held at the Hopedale Unitarian Church, 65 Hopedale St., Hopedale, MA on Saturday June 29, 2024 at 11 AM followed by a reception in the parish hall. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to The Footlight Club theater, 7A Eliot St, Jamaica Plain, MA 02130.
