With immense heartbreak, we announce the passing of Janelle Antone Raad, who lost her courageous battle with cancer on January 4, 2025, in Houston, Texas.
Janelle was proudly born in Port Arthur, Texas, and was a devoted daughter, wife, mother, sister, cousin, and friend. Her life was defined by unconditional love and unwavering dedication to her family and friends. Janelle helped open Antone's Nightclub in Austin, Texas in 1975 with her brother Clifford. She continued to unconditionally support and love those around her every single day, making each person she encountered feel cherished.
Janelle is survived by her husband, John Raad, her daughter, Georgette Hoang and son-in-law Long Hoang, her son, Jamal Raad and daughter-in-law Juliana Raad, and her sister, Susan Antone. She is also survived by maternal cousins, Marianne Ashy Davis, Peter Ashy, Yvonne Ashy Bena, Helen Ashy Adams, Liz Ashy Breed, Mark Ashy, and paternal cousins, Ellis Antone, Mary Jo Antone, and Gerald Farha. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Pauline and Pete Ashy, her paternal grandparents, Elias and Jamille Antone, her mother, Georgette Ashy Antone, her father, Jamal Antone, her brother, Clifford Antone, and her aunts and uncles: Edward Ashy, Yvonne Ashy Hyslop, Fred Ashy, Kamal Antone, Jalal Antone, and Gloria Farha. She was also preceded in death by her cousins Craig Ashy and Will Farha.
A Rosary Service and Reception will be held on Friday, January 10, 2025, at Bradshaw-Carter Funeral Home in Houston from 5-8 PM. Funeral Mass will take place on Saturday, January 11, 2025, at St. Michael Catholic Church in Houston at 11:00 AM, followed by a burial service at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Port Arthur at 2:30 PM.
Janelle's legacy of unconditional love and selflessness will live on in the hearts of her family and all those who were touched by her kindness and generosity.
