Janene Flad Obituary

JANENE EVELYN FLAD

September 3, 1940 – July 7, 2025

Bakersfield – Janene Evelyn Flad was born in Richmond, California, September 3, 1940, and was called from this world of Terrestrial Darkness to her home of Celestial Light, on July 7, 2025, at peace, in her sleep.

Born to John (Jack) Elam Waggoner and Charlene Roi Waggoner (Littlejohn).

Janene was preceded in death by her husband, Jack, of 64 years, her parents Jack & Charlene, younger sister Sue Downs, daughter Nancy, and grandson Evan Flad.

Janene is survived by 2 brothers, 4 sons, 12 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren. The 10th great-grandson, Zane Tyler Ostrovski, born just hours before her passing.

After high school, Janene met Jack Flad, while attending worship at the church of Christ in El Cerrito, CA. They were married on August 1, 1958. They had three children while Jack finished his education at University of California Berkeley, then moved to Beloit, Wisconsin, where they added two more sons before moving back to California, living mainly in the San Joaquin Valley. Wherever they lived, Janene volunteered for the Republican party. After the children were raised and out of the home, she worked full time for State Republican Congressmen and Senators, in the areas they lived.

Janene & Jack spent their life together, spreading the Gospel, especially encouraging music to be in their children's life (teaching their children to use their voices to praise God in music). They loved traveling, sightseeing, drinking coffee, and supporting the Republican party.

Janene was the mother to 5 wonderful children, Steve (& Ruth) Flad, Nancy (& Robert) Hood, Clay (& Karla) Flad, Jim (& Laura) Flad, and Matt (& Leslie) Flad, and grandmother to 13 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. After the passing of Nancy, her son-in-law Robert Hood married Monica (Rodriquez) and the family adopted her as their own.

Two things Janene would like to remember...

First, Make your call and election sure, by obeying the Gospel of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ

Second, Remember to Register Republican and Vote!

Our condolence to all of Janine's family and friends. She was a good woman, with a strong sense of right and wrong. She was quick to love, and to give friendship. She was strong and self sufficient. We miss her deeply.
