Janet Blint, 83, of Oskaloosa, died Thursday, December 25, 2025, at the MHP Hospice Serentiy House in Oskaloosa. She was born on March 6, 1942, the daughter of Arthur C. and Daisy D. Wood Morrett. She graduated from Fort Madison High School with the class of 1960. Following graduation, she worked at various places in Fort Madison including, Shafers, a greenhouse, and the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant. On December 23, 1966, she was united in marriage to Richard Blint at the First Christian Church in Fort Madison. To this union three children were born, Cindy, Jill, and Holly. Janet devoted her time to caring for her family and home. She and Richard loved to drive around and look for deer. She also enjoyed fishing, painting, and BINGO. She had a large garden that she enjoyed every aspect of, from planting in the spring, weeding and watering in the summer, and then harvesting and canning her produce. Most of all she delighted in spending time with her family and friends.
Her family includes her daughters and their husbands, Jill and Dustin Westercamp of Farmington and Holly and Will Williams of What Cheer; a son-in-law, Paul Shelnutt; six grandchildren, Cole (Jessica) Shelnutt, Breanna Shelnutt (Adam), Dalton Westercamp, Denton Westercamp, Katie Williams (Jake), and Chance (Kelsi) Williams; four great grandchildren; and one sister, Nancy Wagner of Denmark, Iowa.
In addition to her husband Richard who passed away May 24, 2023, Janet was preceded in death by her daughter, Cindy Shelnutt, and a sister, Lois Pohlpeter and Elizabeth Mayer.
As was Janet's wish her body has been cremated. No services are planned at this time. The Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
