Janet Ruth Bourbon, a cherished wife, mom, grandma, went to her heavenly home on Saturday, June 14, 2025, at the age of 53. Born on November 15, 1971, Janet's vibrant spirit and generous heart touched the lives of everyone who knew her. She was a daughter of the late Travis Eye and Rachel (Coleman) Eye and grew up as one of ten children.
Janet devoted approximately ten years of her life to Kingston K-14 Elementary School, where she served as a secretary. Her love for her job was apparent, as she cherished the countless memories made with staff and students alike. Beyond her role at the school, she was also a certified cosmetologist and beautician, showcasing her talents and creativity in many ways.
Family was of utmost importance to Janet. She was immensely proud of her children, Britney, Kody, and Brandon. Three kids felt the unwavering support of their biggest fan. Janet's joy multiplied with the arrival of her eight grandchildren: Janette, Julia, Juniper, Ryder, Khloe, Hailee, Karter, and Kori, who were the loves of her life. Each moment spent with them was filled with laughter, warmth, and love.
Known affectionately as “Momma Bourb” to many football boys she embraced as her own. Janet had a heart that overflowed with kindness. Her caregivers' spirit shone brightly through her tender care for her parents when they needed her most, demonstrating the selflessness she embodied every day. Her generosity extended to her many friends and loved ones, always ready to lend a helping hand.
She loved tending to her beautiful flowers and worked hard in her yard, surrounded by the beauty she created with her own hands. Janet also enjoyed indulging her sweet tooth with favorite treats ranging from Twizzlers to banana taffy to chewy sweet tarts. Janet was known for her unexpected love of rap music; she firmly believed that the louder the bass, the better the experience.
Janet leaves behind her devoted husband, Roger Bourbon, who stood by her side in all things. She is also survived by her daughter, Britney Niggemann and her husband Nick, her son, Kody Bourbon and his fiancé, Alexis Diani, as well as her cherished eight grandchildren. Janet will be dearly missed by her six siblings: Vicki Yount, Donna Simpson (husband, Clay), Jody Eye, Mark Eye, David Eye, and Melinda Cooper (husband, Eddie). She will forever remain in the hearts of her mother-in-law, Patsy Bourbon, father-in-law, Roger Bourbon (wife, Rebecca), brothers-in-law and sister-in-law: Derrick and Misty Bourbon, and Chris Bourbon, along with a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
Janet was preceded in death by her son, Brandon Kyle Bourbon, her parents Travis and Rachel Eye, three siblings—Kathy Rolens, Ann Marie Eye, and Randy Eye—and her father-in-law, Francis "Bunny" Portell. Each of these individuals left a mark on Janet's heart, and she took their love with her into eternity.
