Janet Kay Brannan, 69, of Abilene passed away Sunday, October 20, 2024. A Celebration of Life will be held Friday, October 25, 2024 at 11am at North's Funeral Home located at 242 Orange St. Abilene, TX.
Janet was born January 19, 1955 in Haskell, TX to Betty Ruth Hennigan and Albert Lee Landreth. Janet attended school in Rule, where she spent her youth making life-long friends, writing poetry and playing music. After graduating, she attended nursing school at Stamford Memorial Hospital and received her LVN license. She moved and began working as a nurse in Abilene, Texas in 1975, where she met the love of her life, Gary Paul Brannan, when he invited her to attend church with him. Janet and Gary married May 1 st, 1976 and moved to Clyde, Texas. They joined Cherry Heights Baptist Church, started their family and raised them within the church.
Janet was a sweet, loving and God-fearing woman who worked over 40 years as a nurse and enjoyed many different nursing specialties before spending more than 20 years in private home healthcare, which she felt was her calling. All her co-workers and patients could see her love of Christ in her work and her love of people in her life.
Janet loved spending time with her family and doting on her grandbabies and grand dogs. In her spare time she enjoyed crafting, fishing and trying not to kill her many plants! She loved music and could always be caught making up a little jingle to sing about anything and everything. She believed that music and laughter was good for the soul.
Janet is preceded in death by her parents Lee and Betty Landreth; her beloved husband Gary Brannan, her sister and brother-in-law Linda & Lee Roy Jones and nephew Doug Jones.
Left to cherish her memories are her daughters Monica (Brannan) Cloud and Brittnee Brannan; her son Jonathan and wife Amber Brannan; her grandchildren, Grayson Cloud and wife Jocelyn, Baylee Cloud, Heidi Belle, Mindi Jo and Kinzli Rae Brannan; Her siblings, Sherrie Jernigan and husband Ronnie, Dwayne Landreth and wife Cindy; Brother-in law Bill Brannan and wife Carol, Sister-in-law Cindy Brannan; many cousins, nieces, nephews and other friends and relatives.
