Dear John, Jeff, Merry and Ed,
I still feel as though we are all related and the passing of Jan is still hard to believe. Jane has told me she was fighting for her life so it's shouldn't have been a surprise but we are never ready for death. Your Mom was so special. There wasn't anything she didn't have talent for. She was a great cook. She loved chocolate. Ed, you always teased her about buying the chocolate chips and never getting any homemade cookies. Her sewing machine could duplicate any article of clothing in any store or make a worn couch like new with custom slip covers. I remember one Saturday Don and I went over to your house and Jan was grocery shopping. I waited in the kitchen while you guys did whatever you were doing. This blond lady came to the door carrying groceries and I told her that the people who lived there were gone and would return in awhile. I did not recognize her at all. We all got a laugh out of that one. She was a true spirit and enjoyed living and loved her family so very much. I am saddened by her death but will always cherish the Christmas shopping trips she and I took every year. When she was around there was always laughter. I haven't seen her in years but in my heart she has a fond place. You all have my sympathy. Aunt Lola .

John, Jeff, Merry and Ed,
I'm sorry to know that you lost Jan, but glad that she is not suffering any longer.
The memories I have of her are at Christmas time; both past at Grandma's house and more recently at our holiday get-togethers. I picture her smiling or laughing -- and I'm glad for that.
We can't be at the memorial service but send you all our love and prayers. We think of you all quite often throughout the year.
Love, Jane and Greg Lerdall
