Janet Calvin

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Janet Helen Barnes Calvin, who passed on December 4, 2025, at her home in Topeka, Kansas. She was 73 years old.

Janet was born on September 23, 1952, in Topeka, to Luther Eugene and Rosemary Helen Fruit Barnes. She attended Topeka High School, graduating in 1971.

Janet was known and loved by her family and friends for her generosity, humor and kindness. Janet believed the most important things in life were family, friends and love. Janet poured her heart into her family, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Janet loved watching KC Chiefs football, KC Royals baseball and any event her grandchildren were involved in. Janet and Ross travelled to Jamaica and Panama frequently, acquiring lifelong friends and cherished memories.

Janet is survived by her husband, Ross Muncy of the home; daughter, Nicole Marie Calvin of Topeka; son, Phillip Shane Calvin (Heather) of Assaria, Kansas; sister, Barbara Jensen of Toms River, New Jersey; and brother, Daniel "Danny" Barnes of Holton, Kansas. She was a treasured grandmother to Sadye (Trey), Tanner (Kayla), Haylie (Scott), and Jackson and a proud great-grandmother of Oakley, Finley and Fischer.

Janet was preceded in death by her parents, Luther and Rosemary Barnes, and her brother David Barnes.

Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, December 8, 2025, at Kevin Brennan Family Funeral Home, 2801 SW Urish Road, Topeka KS 66614. Funeral Service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, December 9, 2025, at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society and sent in care of the funeral home.
