Janet Vivian Hennis

Janet Vivian Hennis, 100, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 14, 2025. She was born on June 11, 1925, in Cadiz, a daughter of the late Paul and Pansy (Martin) Mehollin.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Virgil, an infant son, her daughter Patricia, great grandchildren Sasha and Gregory and her sister Joyce Johnson.
She is survived by her daughters Sandy Hennis of Uhrichsville and Jody Hennis of Jewett, grandchildren Rhonda, Jan (Andrea), Shannon and Aaron (Mamie) and great grandchildren Kyle, Taylor, Lili, Sarah and AJ.
Janet and Virgil married on November 27, 1949, and raised their girls on the farm outside of Jewett. Janet was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She enjoyed the outdoors, tending to her flowers, feeding the birds and watching the many deer and turkey in the fields surrounding her home. She was a former member of the Jewett VFD Ladies Auxiliary, and she enjoyed attending the Jewett United Presbyterian Church.
Janet was always known as a hard worker, having worked at The Pantry, Burkey's M&K and volunteered at Harrison Community Hospital. Her family was very proud that Janet studied for and got her GED at the age of 61. While taking classes for her GED, she met and became fast friends with one of her teachers- Mrs. Alleman. She later worked for her family as a nannie to her son until, Virgil became ill. Janet also looked after her parents, both of whom lived into their 90's. Her next job was as a "Grandma" for 6 classes of preschool children through the COAD Foster Grandparent Program at the Harrison Developmental Preschool. She worked there for nearly 10 years, making many friends with the teachers, aides and staff.
The family wishes to thank Southern Care Hospice and Harrison County Home staff for their recent care of Janet. In lieu of flowers, they ask that donations in Janet's memory be made to Jewett VFD, PO Box 15, Jewett, Ohio 43988 or Harrison County Home, 41500 Cadiz-Dennison Rd, Cadiz, Ohio 43907.
Services will be held Tuesday, November 18, 2025, at 1 pm in Koch Funeral Home, 101 W Main St, Scio with Rev. Craig Haney officiating. Burial will follow in Ridge Cemetery. Friends may call one hour prior to the service from noon to 1 pm at the funeral home.
