Janet Ann Hickey

AUGUSTA-- Janet Ann Hickey, age 74, died unexpectedly at her home on January 28. She was born in Augusta, ME on July 4, 1950, the daughter of the late Cony E and Margaret M. (Crocker) Gaslin.
Janet was a graduate of Cony High School, class of 1968, serving as Secretary in High School, and later Treasurer for her class Reunions. She earned an associate's degree from the University of Maine at Augusta. She went on to work for the State at Department of Human Services- where she and Tim, her husband, met. She later worked at Cony High School until her retirement after 20 years there, having made an impact on many student and teachers alike.
Janet is survived by her husband of 40 years, Timothy D. Hickey of Augusta; her daughter, Erin E. Hickey of Augusta and her partner, Hartley Ashworth, of Augusta, plus her cats who she loved dearly. She also had a son, Shawn Johnson of Winthrop; a sister, Beverly Gosselin of Sidney; and a large chosen family in her many lifelong friends, and her in-laws, The Hickeys, who she was very close with.
She truly was a warm, bright light and wished the best for everyone she knew. She will be incredibly missed.
Relatives and friends may visit on Tuesday, February 11th from 10-11 AM at Plummer Funeral Home, 16 Pleasant St., Augusta, ME 04330 where a memorial service will follow at 11 AM. Burial will be at a later date.
