Eva Wilkins Davenport, 84, from Wayne passed away peacefully at her home, Monday, November 3, 2025, after a short illness.
She was the daughter of Walter and Alice (Sylvester) Wilkins, of Wales/Leeds Junction who predeceased her in death.
Eva was born in Wales/Leeds Junction on January 7, 1941. She graduated from Monmouth Academy in 1959. Following graduation Eva focused on her herd of Gurnsey cows she and her mother managed at their farm in Wales/Leeds Junction. In her youth Eva and her sister Mary were encouraged to foster animals (wild and domesticated) with "Billy", the fawn they raised for a year, a noteworthy example.
Eva enjoyed taking her herd of Gurnsey's to agricultural shows. She found a shared interest in animal husbandry and cattle shows with her husband Warren Davenport (deceased) whom she married in 1968, she moved her prize winning Gurnsey herd to Wayne, forming a partnership in developing an award-winning dairy farm operation and cattle breeding program. Eva's passion in life was dairy cows; she was the herd's nurse and mid-wife. As a natural caregiver, Eva raised three children, cared for her mother, mother-in-law and husband in their later years.
In retirement Warren and Eva bought an RV and toured North America, ultimately discovering and settling in Florence, AZ where they spent winters for two decades. In Arizona, they enjoyed exploring the vibrant desert and collecting rocks and minerals. Both were long-term members of Wayne/Winthrop grange often participating in fundraising breakfasts as well as enjoying area breakfasts and suppers hosted by other organizations.
She is survived by her sister Mary Hurd and her husband Ben, daughter Pamela (Davenport) Grimshaw of Hallowell, son Walter Davenport and his partner Allegra Norton of Wayne, son Peter Davenport and his wife Tressia of Wayne, two grandchildren, Matthew Davenport and his wife Julie of Leeds, Andria Davenport and her partner Skyler Webb of Wayne, two step grandchildren, Bryanna Belz (deceased) and Gregory Belz of Wayne, three great-granddaughters, many nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Beacon Hospice care, Tressia Davenport, Jenn Brennan and Carrie Fortuna for their care and companionship to Eva over several years.
