Janet Kay (Lyttle) Hyndman, 85, was born in Centralia, Illinois on August 18, 1939 to Warren Peer Lyttle and Ruth Vera (Kistler) Lyttle. They soon moved to Wichita, Kansas, where she lived most of her life. She earned Bachelor Degrees in Nursing and Home Economics in 1960. She married Henry H. Hyndman, Jr. on December 18, 1960 and was married to him until his death in 2014. She worked tirelessly to spread the gospel of Christ and was heavily involved in the women's ministries at First Evangelical Free Church. In 2005, she and her husband moved to the retirement community of Showalter Villa in Hesston, Kansas. She was a generous giver and loved her family, church, flower gardening and travel.
What she would want you to know about her is her love for the Lord Jesus Christ and that He came to save us from going to hell by dying on the cross, if we would only acknowledge Him and accept Him into our lives.
She is survived by her twin sister, Joan (and Dick) Steudtner of Dallas, Texas; her younger sister, Jane Gloyd (and Kim Todd) of Durango, Colorado; children, Nancy L. (and Dale R.) McCollum of Wichita, Kansas and Linda K. (and Paul J.) Howerton of Viola, Kansas. She has four grandchildren, Joshua D. (and Sarah E.) McCollum, Jenna L. (and Cooper) Dahms, Jason R. (and Elizabeth) McCollum and Jessica L. (and Jonathan) Anschutz. She has nine great-grandchildren and a dear friend, Rose Bolyard.
She will be missed by those who knew and loved her.
Funeral Service will be at 11:00 am, Tuesday, January 7, 2025, at First Evangelical Free Church.
Memorial contributions can be made to First Evangelical Free Church, 1825 N. Woodlawn, Wichita, Kansas 67208.
