John Patrick Hyndman, age 63 of Battle Creek, Michigan passed away on December 27, 2024.
John was born in Lansing, Michigan on November 23, 1961. He grew up in East Lansing, graduating from East Lansing High School in 1979. He attended Northern Michigan University in Marquette and studied at Kellogg Community College.
John married Lisa (Wilson) Oliver on February 14, 1990. They had 3 children, Sara Ann Hyndman Allen, LeeAnn Elizabeth Hyndman, & Ian Carl Hyndman. He was also a father figure to the children of several friends and relatives.
John was a senior operator at Battle Creek Water Plant where he worked for the past 23 years. Previously he'd operated water plants in East Lansing, Blissfield, and Adrian Michigan.
John had many interests and hobbies including fishing, gardening, science, geology, investing, road trips, and spur- of- the moment adventures. He was known as an engaging storyteller with a zany sense of humor as well as his creative community networking skills. He was always willing to lend a hand helping friends and relatives.
John was a friend to all animals (except one chipmunk) and had numerous pets over his lifetime from snakes, axolotls, lizards, [redacted], hedgehogs, spiders, cockatiels, ferrets, raccoons and numerous cats and dogs.
John is survived by his wife and previously named children, his granddaughter, KiLee Marie Hyndman, two great-grandsons, sisters, Valerie Ann Hyndman and Barbara Hyndman Vines, plus several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lee Allen and Ann Elizabeth Hyndman.
A celebration of life will be from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 26, 2025 at the PNA Event Venue, 15 Clair St., Battle Creek, MI 49014. Arrangements by the Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care. Personal messages for the family may be placed at www.farleyestesdowdle.com.
