Janet E. Kopecki, 83, of Scranton died Wednesday, August 27, 2025 at Allied Hospice following an illness. She is the wife of Eugene R. Kopecki, the couple were married for 56 years.

Born April 18, 1942 in Philadelphia, PA, she was the daughter of the late Jacob and Emma (McMullett) Finkenbinder. Janet was of the Roman Catholic faith.

In addition to her husband, Janet is survived by her daughter, Janet M. Castellano and companion Douglas Dupper of Roaring Brook Twp; her son Eugene R. Kopecki Jr. and wife Tara of Shickshinny, PA; grandchildren: Jennifer, Robert, Donavan, Danielle, Gabriel Bennett, Bobbie, Jordan; great-grandchildren: Emma Mae, Johncarlo, Julianna, Ronald and Max; nieces and nephews: Christopher, Susan, Michael, David and Debbie. She is also survived by close friend Gretchen Montanez.

Janet was preceded in death by her sister Jacqueline Mellor; and her brother Robert Finkenbinder.

A memorial gathering will be conducted privately by Janet's family.
