Janet Leckey Obituary

Janet Leckey

Janet Leckey was born November 22, 1952, to Wilson D. and Evalyn P. (Goodman) Newcomer and passed away at Bridge Hospice Care Center, Findlay, surrounded by her family.

She is survived by her high school sweetheart husband, Mark A. Leckey; daughters, Tricia M. (Dana) Dickinson of Elida and Ellen M. Leckey of Findlay; and mother-in-law, Glenna (Troiano) Leckey.

She was preceded in death by her parents; father-in-law, Albert Leckey; and brother-in-law, Larry Leckey.

She was a Van Buren High School graduate of the class of 1971 (K-12). She wore many hats during her career, registrar at former Findlay College, Financial Secretary/Bookkeeper at Maumee Valley Presbytery, Postmaster at Van Buren, and retired as Business Manager at Hancock Park District.

The family would like to express their appreciation and thanks to Dr. Omar Al Asad and the nurses at The Armes Family Cancer Care Center for their care, Dr. Christa Nagel at The James - OSU Comprehensive Cancer Center, Cancer Patient Services, and all of our friends who helped with trips to Columbus, bringing food for the family and all their love and support.

She enjoyed traveling, from coast to coast, Maine to Hawaii, and many trips to Florida. Her favorite trip was to Italy to celebrate their 50th anniversary.

If desired, please direct donations to Cancer Patient Services, 1800 N. Blanchard Street, Suite 120, Findlay, OH, 45840 or Ovarian Cancer Connection, 5588 Airport Highway, Suite 206, Toledo, OH 43605.

Visitation will be 12-2 p.m. Monday, October 20, 2025, at COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME, Findlay. Services will begin at 2 p.m. at the funeral with burial at Bechtel Cemetery, Van Buren.

Janet and I have been friends for 67 years since we met in kindergarten. We basically have been through life together and I will miss my dear friend more than words can say. Along with Mark and the girls and my husband Rich and my kids we have just had so many memories together. Always laughter and fun and I will miss that so much. Rest in peace, my dear friend... until we meet again. Love, Shirley and Rich

To my beautiful best friend. Janet, our 40plus year friendship has only grown stronger over the years. You were the sister I would have chosen, the friend I could always count on and I can't begin to imagine what I will do without you. You will forever be my person. I love you and even though you aren't here physically, you will live in my heart forever. Rest in Heaven my dearest friend. Until we meet again. I love you.

Mark, so sorry for your loss. I respected and admired you as a supervisor and now empathize with you as someone who also lost a wife to cancer. I understand what it's like to transition from caregiver to widower. Jesus got me through that journey and I know He can do the same for you.
Prayers for peace and healing over you and your family in this time of sorrow.
