Janet Jo Ann Lester went to be with the Lord on May 2nd, 2024. She passed away at the Rehabilitation and Nursing Center of The Rockies in Fort Collins, Colorado.
Janet was born in Loveland, Colorado to Fred and Clara Lutz on December 11th, 1942. She was born in a house in downtown Loveland. She grew up in Loveland until she was in high school. Their family ended up moving to Westminster, Colorado while she was still attending high school, and that is where she met the love of her life and future husband, Dan. From there on they were inseparable. Janet and Dan were married on February 14th, 1964 and were married for 55 years. Dan and Janet left for the army in 1966 and were stationed in Colleen, Texas. There they had their first child Chris on November 25th, 1967. Shortly after his birth, Dan was sent to Vietnam. After Dan's service, they returned to Westminster, Colorado. On August 18th, 1971, they welcomed their second child Lori. After a few years they moved back to Loveland and never left. Janet worked several jobs including babysitting, The Group real estate, Conrad Ball Junior High school, Loveland High School, and finally retired from Travel World. She made many friends throughout the years that she loved to make laugh, and loved them dearly. She had a wonderful sense of humor, and a huge heart.
On June 12th 1996 they welcomed their grandchild McKenna. She was everything to Janet and Dan. They spent a lot of time with McKenna and loved to spoil her. Their great grandchild Asher came into the world on February 20th, 2016. What a blessing he was to the family. Janet loved him dearly, and he loved her.
Janet and Dan had a wonderful marriage and loved to travel, watch the Broncos, eat out at their favorite restaurants, and go on daily drives. They were always together until Dan passed away on August 31st, 2019.
Janet lived on her own with always having help from family. She lived at a few different places and then her health started to decline and she had to move into the Rehabilitation and Nursing Center of The Rockies where she ended up passing away on May 2nd, 2024. Prior to her passing, she made friends with many of the workers there that our family will always be grateful for.
Janet was a strong Christian lady who always had faith and spoke to the Lord many times during the day. She always had a picture of Jesus with her. It gives us comfort knowing where she is, and that we will be reunited with her someday. She was the best wife, mom, grandma and great grandma and will be missed immensely.
Janet is survived by Dan, who she was married to for 55 years. He preceded her in death on August 31st, 2019, her son Chris who had preceded her in death on November 20th, 2014, her daughter Lori and significant other AJ, her granddaughter McKenna, and great grandson Asher who she loved so much. She is also preceded in death by her parents, her sister Joyce, and brothers Elmer and Don. She had many aunts, uncles, cousins and special friends.
Her service will be graveside per Janet's wishes at the City of Loveland Burial Park on May 13th, 2024 at 11:30 am. A light lunch will be provided across the street at Viegut Funeral Home. Thank you to everyone who loved my mom.

My favorite memories are Halloween. Our crazy costumes. The year we dressed as an old man and old woman. you had a full mask and suit as an old man. You wore gloves, as your hands with the pretty nails would have been a dead giveaway. Nobody could guess who you were. You cornered the bookkeeper in the safe and we were all laughing tears when you finally let her out. And the year we wore the skull caps and orange sheets and carried the daisys. Those caps were hot and stinky. By mid-afternoon we were laughing so hard. Our wonderful trip to the Georgia coast, South Carolina and Florida. Good times spent with dear friends. You were a blessing in my life. I love you dear friend.

I am so sorry to hear about Janet's passing. She was the sweetest lady ever and we had a lot of good laughs in the office. She was so caring and always had a smile.
