Janet B. Linkey

Janet “Bobbie” Shiets-Linkey, 95, of Fremont, OH passed away on Thursday, May 22, 2025 in Port Clinton, OH. She was born on July 23, 1929 in Crossville, TN to Robert and Nola (England) Howard.

Janet married Gerald Shiets on July 3, 1948 at St. Joseph Catholic Church and he preceded her on April 3, 1977. She then married Paul Linkey and he too preceded her. Janet worked for renowned organizations such as General Electric, Heinz, and the Holiday Inn, each contributing to her expansive skill set and expertise. She loved being around family and cooking was her passion. Janet delighted many at her kitchen table, it wasn’t just her family that benefited from her generosity, it was also friends, neighbors, and even acquaintances who were often welcomed into her home.

Janet is survived by her children, Dana (Darrell) Brown, Port Clinton, OH, Larry (Vicki) Shiets, Fremont, OH; grandchildren, Jerrad Shiets, Jason, Shiets, Jacob Shiets, Katie Shiets, Austin (Amanda) Shiets, Jessica Shiets, Bryce Shiets, Camdyn Shiets; step grandchildren, Jennifer Brown, James (Ashely) Brown, Joshua Brown; great grandchildren, Audrey Shiets, Jacob Shiets, Piper Shiets, Callie Shiets, Bentlie Shiets, Cyrus (Madison) LaGrou, Summer LaGrou, Kennedy Brown, Kaitlyn Brown, Sophia Salazar, Kaylee Brown, Warner Brown and Brenna Brown.

She is preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Gerald Shiets; second husband, Paul Linkey; son and daughter-in-law, Jerry (Georgette) Shiets; siblings, Margie Lyons and Jim Howard.

The family would like to give a special thanks for their love and care for Janet to Heartland Hospice nurse, Morgan and Julie. Janet’s family also extends their gratitude to Elmwood Assisted Living.

Janet’s services will be held privately for the family.

Burial will take place at St. Joseph Cemetery.

Memorials can be made in Janet’s honor to Heartland Hospice, Meals on Wheels and/or the Sandusky County Food Pantry.
