Janet Lis

Janet Lis, a beacon of love and courage, passed away on January 17, 2025, in Naperville,
Illinois, at the age of 78. Born on October 30, 1946, in Melrose Park, Illinois, Janet's life was a
testament to the power of love, family, and self-determination.
Janet was the loving wife of the late Bob Lis, with whom she shared a life full of joy and
companionship. Her legacy continues through her son, Michael (Julie) Lis, and her
grandchildren, Matthew, Josie, and Caroline, who brought immense happiness and purpose to
her life. Janet loved her role as grandmother and their bond is unbreakable.
She was a fond sister to Joseph (Cathy) Marchese and Joanne (Morgan) Cotten, and a sisterin-
law to Nancy (Mark) Rusin. Janet's warmth and generosity also extended to her many nieces
and nephews, who will remember her as a dear aunt who always made family gatherings
memorable.
Janet's love for her extended family was unparalleled. She was the heart of big family parties,
where her sassiness, laughter, and energy were infectious. Her passion for entertaining was
evident in the way she opened her home, creating a welcoming space for all to gather and
celebrate life's moments late into the night.
Her interests were a reflection of her nurturing spirit. Janet had a love for home decor,
decorating, gardening and flowers, finding joy in the beauty and tranquility they brought into her
world. Janet did things her way, a trait that exemplified her independence and strength. Her
approach to life was both loving and courageous, inspiring those around her to live authentically.
As we remember Janet, we celebrate a life lived with purpose and love. She was a loving
person through and through, touching the lives of everyone she met with her generous heart
and spirited nature. From the group singing of the twelve days of Christmas to every birthday
celebrated, Janet's presence will be deeply missed, but her spirit will continue to live on in the
memories of those who loved her.

Visitation will be held Thursday, January 23rd from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Modell Funeral Home, 7710 S Cass Ave. Darien. Funeral will begin Friday, January 24th with prayers at 9:15 am followed by a procession to Our Lady of Peace Church in Darien, for a 10:00 am funeral mass. Int. Clarendon Hills Cemetery.
