She was born on August 3, 1941, in Fairbury, Nebraska, the daughter of Lawrence and Lillian Elaine (Cox) Leonard.
She loved crocheting, genealogy and gardening.
Janet is survived by her three sons, Sterling (Rita) Tyler, Mike (Lisa) Tyler and Daniel (Christi) Tyler; Grandchildren, Bethany (James) Hoppenthaler and their children Jackson and Harrison, Lindsey (Alan) Joyner and their children Lillian and Violet, Danielle (Austin) Lee and their children Sterling and Sexton, and Shae Handley and children Olivia and Esme.
The family will receive friends and family from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, at Sweeney-Phillips & Holdren Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow at Sunset Hill Cemetery in Warrensburg, Missouri at 11:15 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Good Shephard Hospice and may be left in care of the funeral home.
