Sondra Elaine Short, 86, of Warrensburg, Missouri, died on Thursday, August 21, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born in San Diego, California, on November 11, 1939, to Patrick and Evelyn McKeown.

She graduated from Drake University and went on to teach pre-school and Special Education. She married Jackson Charles Short on June 11, 1961, and they had two boys: Douglas Charles Short and David Jackson Short. She was passionate about everything that she did, whether raising the boys, fishing, or just making her cards for others to enjoy.

She was preceded in death by her eldest son Doug and her brother Gary Dean McKeown.

She is survived by her husband of 64 years; Jack, her son; DJ and wife Margie, Grandchildren; Velie Brock Short, Lambert McLane Short and Warner Jackson Short whom were all by her side when she passed.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, September 7, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. with a memorial service following the visitation at Sweeney-Phillips & Holdren Funeral Home in Warrensburg Missouri (617 N. Maguire Street). There will be no interment.

In lieu of flowers, which she loved dearly, please make donations to the Old Drum Animal Shelter, as she loved her animals more so. Donations may be left in the care of the funeral home.

We already miss her smile and will continue to every living day.
