Ray Gordon Short, 71, of Science Hill, Kentucky passed away Tuesday, August 26, 2025 at the Jean Waddle Care Center.

He was born in Casey Co., on October 25, 1953; son of the late Clyde and Ivadean (Watson) Short. On August 29, 2021, Ray joyfully accepted Christ as his Savior at Pulaski Baptist Church. Just weeks later, on October 2, 2021, he began a new chapter of his life when he married his devoted and loving wife and caregiver, Loretta Patton Short.

He had a deep love for farming, working with animals, and hunting. Ray found joy in gardening, mowing the church yard, and cooking. He especially cherished time spent with his wife, his daughter and her family. One of his greatest pleasures was sharing the bounty of his garden crops with family and friends.

Ray's life was marked by love, faith, and generosity, leaving behind a legacy of devotion to his family, his church, and the simple joys of life.

He is survived by his loving wife, Loretta (Patton) Short, whom he married on October 2nd, 2021; a daughter, Jessica & (Steve) Gleason of Somerset, KY; a granddaughter, Sydney Gleason of Somerset, KY; three brothers, Carl Michael & (Javannah) Short of Liberty, KY, Kevin Brent & (Winna) Short of Monticello, KY, and Jimmy Wayne Short of Middleburg, KY; and long time best friend, Eugene Harness.

He was preceded in death by his parents, late Clyde and Ivadean (Watson) Short; and his brother, Ronnie Short.

A funeral service will be held at 1 PM on Friday, August 29, 2025 at the chapel of Morris & Hislope Funeral Home with Bro. Nathan Arthur officiating.

Burial will be in Pulaski Cemetery.

The family will receive friends after 11 AM Friday, August 29, 2025 until time for services.
