Janet D. Neilly

Janet Dayton Neilly of Weston, CT died peacefully Feb.27 at her home. She was born May 19, 1930 in Rochester, NY to Eleanor and Robert Bruce Dayton. She attended John Marshall High School, William Smith College and Northwestern University, majoring in English literature.

Janet married Andrew Neilly, Jr. on June 11, 1949. They lived in NYC followed by Westport and Weston CT. She was first and foremost devoted to her husband and three children and also to her grandchildren. She was an active member of her community, serving as a deacon and moderator in Saugatuck Congregational church, she was a member of an interfaith study group and on the interfaith council of Westport/ Weston. She was a member of Weston's board of education and played the cello in the Bridgeport symphony. She loved living among nature, music and literature and read the NY Times daily. She travelled with her husband worldwide on trips representing John Wiley and Sons publishers. She hosted publishers and friends from all over the world at her home in Connecticut.

Survivors include her sister Robin Osborn of Watertown, Ct, her children Susan Neilly of Weston, Thomas and Jennifer Neilly of Redding, CT and Sarah and Carlos Paulino of Melbourne, FL along with her grandchildren Jack Paulino, Katherine Paulino and William Paulino. She was predeceased by her sister Louise Brewington.

Donations in her honor may be made to Homes with Hope in Westport, CT, Saugatuck Congregational Church in Westport and the Alzheimer's Association. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
