Janet Marie O'Ferrell

Mrs. Janet Marie Pruitt O’Ferrell, 66, passed away Monday, June 19, 2023. She was born September 12, 1956, in Surry County to the late Henderson Odell Pruitt and Margaret Sams Pruitt. On June 9, 1973, Janet married the love of her life, Stephen Wayne O’Ferrell. Together they shared many travel adventures and had a special connection to Cherry Grove Beach.  Janet enjoyed spending time with family and friends, often hosting the family gatherings and cookouts. Janet had compassion for others and was happy to help take care of family members. She also had a big heart for rescuing animals. Over the years, she fostered numerous greyhounds, stray dogs, and cats. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her loving husband of 47 years and a brother, Carl Odell Pruitt. She is survived by her two sons, Jason O’Ferrell (Jennifer) of Winston-Salem, NC, and Chris O’Ferrell (Elizabeth) of Kernersville, NC; five grandchildren, Jameson, Jayden, Madison, Jillian, and Carson; brother, Keith Pruitt (Denise); brother in-law, Glenn D. “Rick” O’Ferrell; two sister in-laws, Kara Weatherman and Dianna Pruitt; several nieces and nephews; a lifelong friend, Carol Walker; and two beloved pets. A funeral service will be conducted 1:00 PM Friday, June 23, 2023, at Pinedale Christian Church. Interment will follow the service at Gardens of Memory in Walkertown, NC. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service at Pinedale Christian Church.
