Janet Ione Ohnemus, beloved mother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on May 25, 2025, in Olympia, Washington, at the age of 84. Born on September 15, 1940, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Janet's life was a testament to love, resilience, and a passion for the simple joys of life.
She graduated from Olympia High School in 1958, where she made many cherished memories and lifelong friendships. Janet married the love of her life, Larry L. Ohnemus, on June 11, 1966, in Olympia, WA. Together, they created a warm and loving home, raising two wonderful sons, James and Shannon Ohnemus, who carry forward her spirit.
Janet will be remembered not only for her dedication to her family but also for her vibrant personality. She had a love for reading, gardening, and shopping at garage sales. An avid Seattle Seahawks fan, Janet passionately cheered for her team, celebrating every victory with infectious enthusiasm. Her adventurous spirit led her to travel and explore, making lasting memories with those she loved.
Janet is survived by her two sons, James and Shannon Ohnemus; her brother-in-law, Jerry Ernst; her niece, Andrea Petke; and her nephew, Jeff Ernst. She was preceded in death by her cherished husband, Larry, and her parents, whose love for her provided the foundation upon which she built her life.
A celebration of Janet's life will be held on June 10th at 2 PM at Mills & Mills Cemetery, located at 5725 Littlerock Road in Olympia, WA. Friends and family are invited to join in remembering a remarkable woman whose love and kindness touched all who knew her.
In this time of loss, we extend our heartfelt condolences to her family and loved ones. Janet Ione Ohnemus will be dearly missed but her spirit will forever remain in our hearts.
