Janet "GranJan" Parrott, 79, of Louisville, Kentucky, went home to her Lord and Savior on Sunday, February 25, 2024. She was born on July 5, 1944, to the late James Robert and Mildred Miller.
Janet was a nurse at Saint Mary and Elizabeth and Audubon Hospital. She traveled the world providing healthcare missions to Guatemala, El Salvador, Dominican Republic, Ethiopia and Uganda. Janet received a Bell Award for her years of volunteer work that included SOS and Access Justice Louisville, among many others. She attended Camden Avenue Christian Church and then South Louisville Christian Church where she cooked meals, watched the kids, taught classes and Bible Bowl; influencing generations of young people in the South End of Louisville. Janet's sense of humor, her passion for living and serving others, and her stubborn tenacity to keep living and loving her family and community will never be forgotten.
Janet was preceded in death by her father, James Robert Miller; her mother, Mildred Miller; and her brother, James A. Miller.
GranJan is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Robert Parrott; her daughters, Laura White (Mark), Sarah Parrott (Rocky), and Valerie Goins (Jody); her fourteen grandchildren, Shane White (Olivia), Austin White, Harry White (Anelise), Molly White, Edrine White, Isiah White, Xu Bin White, Ping White, Claire Parrott, Sophie Parrott, Emma Goins, Sam Goins, and Maddie Goins; her four great-grandchildren, Lyra White, Izzy White, Evie White, and Isla White; her brother-in-law, Bill Parrott; her sister-in-law, Veda Parrott; honorary members of the Parrott family, Sujey Najarro (and family), Luis Bollat (and family), and Regina Roebuck; along with her life long best friends who she adored, Elaine Jarboe and Janet Pearson.
A funeral service to honor Janet's life will be at 11:00 AM on Thursday, February 29, 2024, at Louisville Memorial Gardens Funeral Homes West, 4400 Dixie Highway, with entombment to follow in the cemetery. Visitation hours will be on Wednesday from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM and Thursday from 9:00 AM until service time.
