Janet Perriello Obituary
June 9, 1943 - March 26, 2025
Janet Perriello, 81, of Virginia Beach and formerly of Charlottesville, passed away on March 26, 2025. She is survived by her beloved husband of 56 years, James J. Perriello.
She was born on June 9, 1943, to the late John and Nora Shaw. She is also predeceased by her brothers, David, Robert and Claud Shaw.
She is survived by her sisters-in-law, Janice Spaulding, and Rachel and Kitty Shaw; her brother-in-law, Joseph Ciampa and his wife Sue; her nieces, Alyssa Antonelli, Ann Marie Ciampa, and Lisa Anderson; her nephews, Joseph Ciampa, Scott Shaw, Tony Shaw and his wife, Leslie, Marc Guerriero, Richard Guerriero and his husband, Bill.
She is also survived by her great nieces and nephews, Simonne and her husband, Aaron Sargent, Hayden Salmonson, Evan and Eric Anderson; great-great-niece, Aeress Sargent; and cousins, Joan Craft, Kelly Peregory, and Butch Peregory.
Janet lived a full and rich life, and she loved people. Her quick wit and the signature gleam in her eye were always present. Among her greatest passions were music and dance. As a teenager in Charlottesville, Va., she was a lead singer in a rock-and-roll band with high school friends.
Janet had a paralegal degree from the University of Maryland and later worked as a real estate agent in Maryland. She was president of the Mclean Civic Association with over fifty board members and was a board member of the Croatan Civic Association herself.
Janet's love of life, laughter, and joy was a true gift to her family and friends. She will be deeply missed, and her memory will continue to inspire those she leaves behind.
A visitation will be held at Hill & Wood Funeral Service, Charlottesville, from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, April 4, 2025. A funeral will follow at 10 a.m., on Friday, April 5, 2025, with the Reverend David Hallingshead officiating.
