Janet Mae Pinard
Janet Mae Pinard (Jan), of Ann Arbor, Michigan, passed away Sunday, June 29, 2025, at Jackson County Medical Care Facility where, in the final weeks of her life, she received the most competent and compassionate care.
Jan was born in 1930 in Grand Rapids, Michigan, the daughter of William Joseph and Adrianna Cora (Schippers) Cunningham. Jan's sister, Betty, preceded her in death. Jan moved to Jackson, Michigan where she married and raised nine children: William (Barbara); Christine Donovan (Tom); Patricia Miller (Tim); Susan Boland, deceased; Mary Jo Beach (Don); Thomas (Shelby); James (Vikki); Richard and Steven (Donna McDonald).
Once her children launched, Jan relocated to Ann Arbor, Michigan, home to several of her children and rich in things to do and places to go. She worked as receptionist at Leland & Fleming, gynecology and obstetrics office, and remained a friend of Charlie and Mary Ann Leland, long after retirement. She frequented Trader Joe's, audited drawing classes at Washtenaw Community College and volunteered as a docent at University of Michigan Art Museum. She and her son, Bill, loved Ann Arbor's RFD Boys and rarely- if ever- missed a concert. A loyal fan of the Detroit Lions, she and son, Rich, considered Thanksgiving games, no matter the weather, as traditional as turkey. Jan's friends might describe her as classy, having style and good taste, feisty and funny. Oh, and as an ardent Obamaphile.
Jan is survived by her eight living children, eighteen grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren and close friends Elizabeth Thoburn, David Goldberg, Debie White, Margaret Aplin and Nan Plummer.
No memorial service is planned at this time.
