Janet P. Post, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away on Sunday, September 14th, 2025, at her residence in Marietta, Ohio. Her soul is now present with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Born on October 13th, 1946, in Parkersburg, West Virginia, Janet lived a life full of love, dedication, and service to her family and community.
Janet was a proud graduate of Parkersburg High School, Class of 1964, and went on to earn an Associate's Degree in Teaching from West Virginia University. Her passion for education and commitment to helping others led her to co-own and operate with her husband, Michael, the OV Truck Driver Training School for over 25 years, where she touched the lives of many aspiring drivers before retiring in 2022. Janet was a member of Marietta Bible Center for 38 years and she loved reading, camping and boating.
Janet was united in marriage to Michael J. Post on June 18, 1967, and together they built a beautiful family. She is survived by her devoted husband, Michael, and their two daughters, Derinda Sage (Michael) and Drema Fields (David). Janet was a cherished grandmother to her grandson, Michael Sage, and a proud great-grandmother to Caroline, Chloe and Alex Sage. She is also survived by her siblings, Raymond Furner (Pat), Russell Furner (Elizabeth), and Catherine Harpold, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Janet was preceded in death by her parents, Leonard E. Furner and Loretta Wilson Furner. Her love for reading, boating, and camping brought joy to her life and those around her, creating lasting memories with family and friends.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Janet's life at the Marietta Chapel of Cawley & Peoples Funeral Home in Marietta, Ohio. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 17th, 2025, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 am. Private burial will take place in Sunset Memory Gardens in Parkersburg.
