Janet Carol Pruis

PRUIS, Janet Carol – of Birch Run, age 80, died Sunday, March 31, 2024 at her residence. A Celebration of Life will be held Friday, April 5, 2024 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at O'Guinn Family Funeral Home in Birch Run, Michigan. A Private Family Burial will take place at Birch Run Township Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
Janet was a loving wife, mom, and grandmother and always up for an adventure. She loved camping, hiking, and spending time with family. She hiked the Appalachian Trail and bicycled across the United States. She traveled to all 50 states and even international countries. She loved her family, her husband, five children, eleven grandchildren, one great grandchild, and many friends. Janet put her family first and she enjoyed reading and sitting on her back deck listening to the birds. She was strong, loving, and an inspiration.
Janet was born September 21, 1943 in Chicago, Illinois to the late James and Hilda (Galloway) Norris. She grew up in Mendota, Illinois and graduated from Mendota High School with the class of 1961. Janet attended Rockford School of Business where she met the love of her life, Larry. On May 16, 1964 she married Larry Pruis in Mendota, Illinois. Prior to her retirement in 2000, Janet worked as a Nurse's Aide at Wellspring Lutheran Home in Frankenmuth with 20 years of service.
Surviving are: husband of 59 years, Larry Pruis; children, Bonnie (Todd) Carter, Jill (Brett) Yatsevich, Beth Haley, Dr. Matt (Elaine) Pruis; grandchildren, Samantha (Andrew) Renusch, Jacob Cosens, Jenny Cosens, Bailey Carter, Brendan Carter, Emily Yatsevich, Ethan Yatsevich, Jeff Haley, Alicyn (Andrew) Church, Vince Pruis, Katie Pruis; great grandson, Leland Church; Brother, James Norris.
