Janet R. Rishel,

86, of Gibbon Glade, PA, died Saturday, September 6, 2025, in her home with her family at her side.

The daughter of the late Cecil and Grace Ringer McCarty, she was born February 19, 1939, in Brandonville, WV.

Janet was the school secretary at Wharton Elementary School for 42 years and a member of the Canaan Church, where she held many positions. She started every morning with her Bible and Upper Room. She loved to take pictures, sew, do crossword and Jigsaw puzzles, and walking the block.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Jason and Christina Rishel of Gibbon Glade; a special grandson, Wyatt John Rishel of Gibbon Glade; a sister, Frances McCarty of Kingwood, WV; a sister-in-law, Janet McCarty; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, John Jr. Rishel, and a brother, Vernon McCarty.

Family and friends may call at the Carl R. Spear Funeral Home in Brandonville-Bruceton Mills, WV, Tuesday, September 9, 2025, from 2:00 until 9:00 pm, and Wednesday from 10:00 am until the 11:00 am service with Pastor Greg Moran officiating. Burial will follow in the Bethel Memorial Park Cemetery, Farmington, PA.

The family requests memorial contributions be made to the Canaan Church, 440 Five Forks Road, Gibbon Glade, PA 15440, in care of Phyllis Haines.
