Janet Lynn Schafer, 68, of Guthrie, Oklahoma, stepped into glory on Sunday, November 16, 2025. Born on March 16, 1957, Janet spent her life living out the true definition of hospitality.

Her heart, arms, and home were always open to provide a hug, an infectious laugh, and a home cooked meal. With Janet, you knew you were always welcome in her presence. Her ability to turn every stranger into a friend was something to be admired. Connection and community came effortlessly to her.

There isn't a soul who wouldn't agree that Janet was seen as a mother to all, but those closest to her call her Mamaw. Janet loved her Lord and that love was displayed and shared with her family, friends, and the church she called home.

Throughout her 68 years, she adorned many hats and crowns, but her favorite was that of Grandmother. Boy did she love being Mamaw to her eight grandchildren. She often said if she could have, she would have by-passed motherhood and gone straight to being a grandmother.

Her greatest victory is when she stepped from this earthly life into her Father's house where He greeted her with "Welcome home, good and faithful servant."

Her presence will be greatly missed by all, but the memories, stories, and love we have will carry on. Until we meet again………

Janet is preceded in death by her parents, James Dean Smith and Betty Jo (Arnold) Jones and her brother, Stephen Alan Smith.

She is survived by her husband, Robert G. Schafer of the home in Guthrie; daughter, Misty L. Sullins and husband, Johnathun of Beulah, Missouri; son, Jason D. Schafer and wife, Jennifer of Bixby, Oklahoma; brother, Mike J. Smith of Norman, Oklahoma; sisters, Cindy A. Polando of Moore, Oklahoma and Darla M. Jones of Austin, Texas; sister-in-law: Nancy Smith of Temple, Texas; grandchildren, Tyler Roper, Reagan Roper, Laney Roper, Emilee Sullins, Josh Sullins, Brooklyn Schafer, Levi Schafer, and Lila Schafer; and step-father, Wayne H. Jones of Guthrie. She is also survived by her nieces, Amanda K. Smith of Temple, Texas, Jessica K. Polando of Moore, Oklahoma, and Jennifer L. Young and husband, Jack of Guthrie and great-nieces and great-nephews, Brody Young, Kinsley Young, Ashley Tweedle, and Clayton Smith.

Janet was the best friend of my life. We met 37 years ago while our families were stationed together in Germany, became instant friends and shared a lifetime of wonderful memories and experiences together and with Bob, Misty and Jason. I will love and miss her forever. I know she is in a wonderful place with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. I pray that with the pain of her loss Bob, Misty and Jason´s hearts will be eased over time and we will all be together again with her in Heaven.
We love you Janet, Becky and Jim Stone

Dear Sweet Janet, a lifelong friend and like a second mother to me. My heart is broken. I think back fondly to last year when we met up for dinner and a lot of laughs in Nashville. So very thankful that we got that time with you and Misty. Robert, Misty, Jason....your whole family is in my prayers. Love you Mom #2. Theresa
