was born in Walsenburg, CO and raised in Malachite near Gardner, CO.
Leatrice married Ronnie Schafer on July 6, 1952 and Ronnie passed away April 14 th, 2019. She
is survived by daughter Rhonda Schafer, son R.D. (Sara) Schafer, grandkids Rendi (Craig) Swift,
Bret MusilliShelbi (Lance Smart) Kelly, Casey (Kevin) Baker and Zach Schafer and great
grandkids Laci and Blake Swift, Kech and Kynzlee Smart, and McKenna Baker. Leatrice is also
survived by sister in laws Linda Schaferand Myrna Sharp and their families.
Leatrice taught school in Walsenburg for 34 years.
Leatrice was a great Mom and Nonnie to her family and was always there for us. No words can
express how much she will be missed, but she is reunited with the love of her life Ronnie and
free from the terrible disease that took her away from us slow but sure for the past few years.
Rest in peace Momma – Nonnie.
Memorial will be at Boies Ortega funeral home Saturday June 25, 2022 at 11 am.
