Obituary
Seidenberg, Janet Ferguson 84, passed away peacefully on August 17, 2023 at home in Long Lake, Minnesota. Janet is survived by Otto Seidenberg, her beloved husband of 60 years, and leaves behind a legacy of learning and cherished memories. She is also survived by her children: Peter Seidenberg of Ridgefield, Connecticut, and Nicholas Seidenberg (Casey) of Washington, DC. Janet's presence will be greatly missed by her grandchildren: Annabel Wallace; Margaret, Phoebe, and Lillian Seidenberg; as well as Otto Henry, Theodore, and Philippa Seidenberg. Her brother Robert Ferguson (Connie) of Vero Beach, Florida also mourns her passing. Janet was predeceased by her daughter, Barrie Seidenberg, her son, Otto Andrew Seidenberg, her parents, Barrie and Elizabeth Ferguson, and her brother Bruce Ferguson.
Janet was a woman of vibrant interests and a true advocate for the bond of family and friends. With the desire to bring people together, Janet taught herself to be a world-class cook. Family dinners, particularly on Sunday nights, were sacred to her, fostering connections that she held dear. But her reach extended beyond family, as she brought friends together through themed dinners or with a simple pot of lentil soup after a brisk Sunday paddle match. Her springer spaniels were never far away whether she was cooking, reading or gardening.
Janet's intellectual curiosity and quick wit made her a presence. She was an avid reader, with a focused interest on history, cultures, and the plight of those less fortunate. Her insatiable inquisitiveness led her to the University of Michigan, Class of 1961, and to explore the globe with loved ones, creating treasured memories along the way. Yet perhaps one of her most enduring traits was her wit and sharp tongue, a delightful and sometimes surprising aspect of her personality that endeared her to those who truly knew her.
Janet's absence will be deeply felt by all who have crossed paths with her. A celebration of her life will be held at St. Martin's by-the-Lake Church on October 7th at 1 P.M.
