Janet M. Smith, 92 of Indian Land, SC; formerly of Springfield Twp, passed away peacefully on Dec 29th at Levine & Dickson Hospice House in Huntersville, North Carolina.
Born in Akron, Ohio to Brooks and Lucy Allen. She married David Smith on Aug. 20,1954. They lived in Akron, settling in the Springfield Twp area until moving to South Carolina in 2013. After attending beauty school, Janet opened the Emerald Clipper Hair Salon in Green, Ohio, later moving the business to Uniontown, Ohio where she worked until retirement.
Janet loved spending time with her family and enjoyed picnicking and family reunions at Wingfoot Lake Park. She enjoyed road trips and sightseeing. She was an excellent cook and baker. She loved her pets Cricket, Gretchen, and Twinkle.
Preceded in death by her husband David, and son Brian Smith. She is survived by son Kerry (Cindy) Smith, daughter Sandy (Luke) Crites, grandchildren Marlene, Kyle, Brad, Emily, Nathan and two great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to VIA Healthcare, Hospice & Palliative Care, Charlotte Region; www.viagiving.org; or a local Hospice Chapter in her memory.
Services will be held at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron, Ohio on Monday January 5th at 1:00, Pastor Bill Thomas officiating. The Family will receive friends one hour before the service. Burial will follow at Hillside Memorial Park, 1025 Canton Rd. Akron, Ohio 44312.
