Janet Lynn Swigart, 69, of Paw Paw, passed away peacefully after a courageous fight with cancer on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, at Rose Arbor Place in Kalamazoo.

She was born April 8, 1956, in Benton Harbor, Michigan, the daughter of Floyd Arent and Winnifred (Deuel) Arent.

Janet was an active member of the Almena United Methodist Church and volunteered countless hours towards the church. Janet helped raise money for the annual Crop Walk, Wings of God and Eleanor's Pantry. She was an avid Michigan sports fan and kept up with all her favorite teams, especially her Detroit Tigers! Janet spent her free time going to concerts and enjoying the live music, hanging out at the beach and reading. Above all else, Janet cherished time spent with her family, especially her beloved grandchildren.

She is survived by her daughter, Kathryn (Christopher Fontes) Swigart; son, Michael (Jaclyn) Swigart and two grandchildren, Wren Fontes and Arya Swigart.

Janet was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Kathleen Arent.

Family and friends are invited to visit on Saturday, August 2, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Almena United Methodist Church, 27503 County Road 375, Paw Paw. A funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Dan Phillips officiating. Janet will be laid to rest at Kniebes Cemetery in Coloma.

Memorial contributions may be directed to Wings of God.
