With profound sadness we announce the passing of Janet E. Tackett, our loving and devoted mother and friend to all whose lives she touched on April 8, 2024.
She left us peacefully while a resident of Evansville Manor at the age of 88 years old.
Born in Milwaukee, WI, she witnessed incredible changes to her world. She joined the US Army in 1954. She trained as a medic and served during the Korean War. She met and married her loving husband, Charles L. Tacket, II, a sergeant in the US Army, in 1955.
She was the beloved mother of 4 daughters: Joan (Peter), Cherl (Pete), Debbie (Gregg), and Mary (Michael) and one son Charles, III. She was the proud grandmother of 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her devoted husband, and only son, parents, siblings, and many dear friends.
Janet lived a full life as a wonderful and loving mother, homemaker, travel agent, working in the manufacturing sector, and so much more. She was truly remarkable.
Janet will be missed but forever in our hearts. She touched everyone and anyone who knew her and her family knew of her love like no other.
Janet left a message to say "Miss me but let me go. When I come to the end of the road and the sun has set for me, I want no rites in a gloom-filled room. Why cry for a soul set free? Miss me a little, but not too long and not with your heads bowed low. Remember the love that we once shared. Miss me but let me go. This is a journey we all must take and each must go alone. It's all a part of the Master's plan – a step on the road to home. When you are lonely and sick of heart, go to the friends we know and bury your sorrows in doing good deeds. Miss me, but let me go I love you all – my family, my friends."
In lieu of flowers, donations in Janet's honor to Paralyzed Veterans of America (https://secure.PVA.org/) would be greatly appreciated.
A private family graveside will be held at Prairie Home Cemetery in Waukesha.
