Janet Thornton

Janet Blust Thornton, 88, of St. Augustine, FL, passed peacefully surrounded by family on January 18th, 2026 at UF Health Flagler Hospital.

She was born in Cincinnati, Ohio in 1937 to Wade and Elsie Blust. Her family moved to Fort Lauderdale, FL early in her life and she moved to St. Augustine Florida in 1987. She was a light in this world that will be missed by those that got to know her. She loved people and could find a friend anywhere she went. She loved her family fiercely and it could always be said that she was their biggest supporter. She was the best "Mema" and many of her grandkids will always remember the special Sunday morning breakfasts with the added extra milkshake or chocolate cake (because donuts are practically cake anyway, right?).

Janet will be mourned deeply by her family and friends, and will be missed by all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her husband, Judson, her sons, Douglas and David, grandson, Dillan, her parents, Wade and Elsie Blust, sister, Pamela, brother, Daniel, and son in law, James. Janet is survived by daughters, Marilyn (John "Dave") and Michele, son, Robert (Deana), granddaughters, Amanda (Zachary), Samantha, Tori (Dylan) and Zoey, grandsons, Michael (Jami), Shawn, Brandon, Blake (Karen), Daniel, Charles and Dominic 11 great-grandchildren, 2 bonus grandchildren, 4 bonus great grandchildren and the many more she called family.
