Janet Eileen Timmons, 86, of Martinsville, passed away peacefully at 5:20 p.m. on Saturday, September 27th, 2025, at Grand Valley Health & Rehabilitation Center in Martinsville.

She was born on November 8th, 1938, in Bloomfield, Indiana, to the late Paul Robert Stone and Mable Josephine (Lester) Stone. Janet grew up in Bloomfield, where she graduated from high school, and went on to earn her bachelor's degree in education from Indiana State University in 1960. She later returned to pursue and complete her master's degree in education.

Janet dedicated her career to teaching elementary and middle school students in the Warren and Perry Township school districts, where she spent 28 years inspiring and shaping young minds before retiring in 2000.

On July 16th, 1961, she married the love of her life, Miles D. Timmons. They shared more than 40 years together before his passing on March 11th, 2002. Shortly after their marriage, Janet and Miles settled in Indianapolis, where they raised their children, worked, and actively participated in their church and various fraternal organizations. Together, they built many lifelong friendships through the Sahara Grotto and shared countless adventures traveling, motorcycling, and enjoying family life.

Following her retirement, Janet moved to Martinsville, where she embraced her love of ponies, raising them on a small farm. She took delight in participating in parades and festivals across Indiana, proudly pulling her "fashionably decorated" pony cart-often adorned in her signature Red Hat attire. A proud member of both the Eastern Star and the Red Hat Society, she cherished the camaraderie and fun these groups brought into her life.

Even after Miles' passing, Janet continued traveling with friends and riding her motorcycle well into her 60s, a reflection of her adventurous spirit. A woman of deep faith, she was a longtime member of Friedens United Church of Christ in Indianapolis, where she joyfully rang with the handbell choir and poured her heart into the Sunday school program.

Janet will be remembered for her devotion to family, her love of teaching, her adventurous nature, and the joy she brought to those around her.

She leaves behind a host of loving family who will miss her deeply including her son, Matthew (wife, Anne) Timmons of Indianapolis, IN; daughters, Kelly (husband, Brian) Moncel of Martinsville, IN, and Michelle Warnock of Mooresville, IN; seven beloved grandchildren, Brett & Collin Timmons, Brandon & Andrew Moncel, Erica & Austin Warnock and Megan Puckett; and 2 cherished great grandchildren, Easton & Brooks Timmons.

Along with her parents and husband, Janet was preceded in death by her brother, Harry Robert Stone.

Family and friends are invited to visit on Friday, October 3rd, 2025, during a memorial gathering from 3:00 PM – 7:00 PM at Neal & Summers Funeral and Cremation Center in Martinsville. In honoring Janet's wishes, her earthly remains will be cremated.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Janet's memory to the donor's charity of choice. Condolences and memories are encouraged to be shared with the family online at www.nealandsummers.com
