Janet Varner of North Little Rock, Arkansas, passed into the hands of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on January 29, 2023, at the age of 88.
Janet was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, on November 5, 1934, to William and Mildred Strasburger. She graduated from the University of Cincinnati in 1957 with a bachelor's degree in English. It was at the University that she met her husband-to-be, Alan Varner. They met on a blind date on March 11, 1955, and married for life on October 25, 1958. The Lord allowed her and Al to celebrate 64 years of marriage.
They had two children, Patty and David. When the children arrived, Janet became a full-time stay-at home mom.
Janet was a much-loved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She is survived by her husband; sister, Mildred Roland; children, Patty Roberts (Scott) and David Varner; grandchildren, Katie Roberts, Jessica Sng (Matthias), Josiah Roberts, Haley Varner, and Andrew Roberts; and great-grandchildren, Ezekiel Sng and Eliana Sng. She was predeceased by her parents and sister, Irma Mae Welti.
Janet's whole life was dedicated to her family. Her church was also a part of her family, with over 40 years of faithful service and love of the Lord. She was a member of Bible Church of Cabot, where she served for many years on the missions committee. May she enjoy eternity in Heaven with Jesus.
Friends and family are invited to attend Janet's funeral at Smith Sherwood Funeral Home at 3:00 PM Thursday, February 2, 2023 with a visitation one hour prior to the service. Entombment will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Bible Church of Cabot or Christian Aid Mission in Charlottesville, Virginia.
