Janet C. Volz

Janet C. Volz, a resident of Beacon, New York, passed away peacefully on May 8, 2025. She was 84 years old.
Janet was born on July 9, 1940, in Beacon, New York to Harry Devine and Marie Weiner Devine. She attended Beacon High School, married young and raised three children, several grandchildren, and a great-granddaughter, as well as many beloved dogs and cats.
Janet's twinkling blue eyes and ready smile, her unparalleled self-deprecating humor, her willingness to step up and lend a hand to friends, neighbors, children and animals in need are her legacy.
Janet is survived by her sons, Thomas Montague, Sr. and Brian Volz, her grandchildren (David, Chris, Michael and Thomas Montague, Shawn Webber and Jason Buckman), and her great-grandchildren (including Samantha, Hunter, Aria, Ana, and Sabrina Montague), as well as by her sister, Doris Depew.
Janet was predeceased by her parents, her husbands, John "Jack" T. Montague and Clarence J. Volz, her closest friend and cousin, Rose Marie Pavelock, and her grandson, John Montague.
The family wishes to express special thanks to Jacqueline Hernandez Rauda, who cared for Janet in her home with immense love and kindness, to Ruben Gonzalez who generously made necessary home modifications all the while respectful of Janet's privacy and comfort, to Peter Panko for his magnanimous fence-building services, to Joe Valentin who dedicated invaluable time and attention to recommending contractors and providing assistance and advice, to Durham from Brother's Medical Transport whose benevolent attention to Janet's needs surpassed all expectations, to ElderPlan, to the aides from AccentCare, to the physical and occupational therapists and wound care nurse at EverCare, to Sun River Health, the Independent Consumer Advocacy Network, the Office of Children and Family Services, to Unlimited Care, Inc. and the Nursing Home Transition and Diversion program, to Mary Oberle and the incredible staff at Taconic Rehabilitation and Nursing at Beacon and at Hudson Valley Hospice, to the wonderful team at St. Lukes Hospital in Newburgh, to Lisa Soeder and Dana Pavelock who helped coordinate Janet's care and well-being with love and respect, and to the many others who assisted Janet through her illness.
Family and friends will gather on Wednesday, May 14 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Riverview Funeral Home by Halvey, 2 Beekman Street, Beacon. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. at the funeral home followed by burial at St. Joachim Cemetery, Beacon.
